What AI genuinely changes

AI has made the mechanical parts of coding much faster. Boilerplate, tests, first drafts, looking things up — work that used to take an hour can take minutes. A developer who uses these tools well simply produces more, faster. That is real, and you benefit from it directly as a client.

What it cannot do

Software is not typing — it is decisions. What to build, how to structure it so it survives change, how it fails safely, what to leave out. AI has no stake in your outcome and no real understanding of your business. It produces plausible code, not accountable judgment. Hand it the wheel and you get software that looks right and quietly is not.

Why expertise matters more, not less
